About Princess

Princess Coaches has provided coach travel in and around Southampton and Hampshire since 1919. Starting with an open top charabanc running trips to the seaside, the business has evolved over the years with most aspects of coach transport having been undertaken. At Princess, we owe our longevity to our ability to adapt to market trends, diversify the operation and most importantly satisfy the needs of our Customers.

The company is family owned and operated and our experience and pedigree has passed from 1st to 2nd and now, 3rd generation of the family.

Whilst our history is important to us, we want to set standards in the industry and therefore strive to continually improve our customer experience through investment in our fleet and improving the professionalism of our dedicated driving team.

We operate from our own depot in West End, Southampton, situated near junction 7 of the M27. This allows us excellent access to Southampton, Portsmouth and Winchester. Our facilities include extensive maintenance workshops with rolling road brake tester, automated coach wash, refuelling facility, WC cleansing and under cover parking.

Princess Coaches are long standing members of (CPT)
The Confederation of Passenger Transport. the trade body for the Coach and Bus Industry, active members of Business Southampton and Tourism South East.

Princess Coaches and the Environment

Coach travel is the greenest method of transportation in the UK today; it is twice as efficient as rail, nearly four times more efficient than car travel, and six times more efficient than air travel. Coach travel has the lowest carbon dioxide emissions per passenger per km of any mode of transport - in terms of emissions, the average coach equates to 20 cars on the road.

To put those statistics in context, travelling from London to Newquay by coach rather than by car saves the amount of CO2 emissions produced from energy needed to watch TV for 360 hours or to run your fridge for 133 days.

Princess Coaches takes its responsibility to the environment very seriously. At Princess all of our coaches, meet the euro engine emission criteria for the London “Low Emission Zone” that came into effect in July 2008. In addition to enabling us to travel to the capital and surrounding areas, it has been directly beneficial to our local environment.
A key objective for 2010 is to review our environmental policy and to identify any further measures, which will allow us to ensure we play an active role in lowering our carbon emissions thus reducing the negative effect on climate change.

Notwithstanding this review, we continue to focus our efforts on minimizing our environmental impact in the relevant business areas, such as controlling waste, energy-saving and recycling.  All of our waste is disposed of in accordance with the Environmental Policy Act 1990. Both management and staff are aware of their environmental obligations in helping to ensure that electrical equipment is switched off, paper is recycled and heating and air conditioning is used efficiently.
